The photographs in this exhibition were taken during the summer of 2006 by participants in the Museum of Biblical Art’s day camp workshops. Children from summer programs at the Children’s Aid Society and Recreation Center 59 West, among others, learned from professional photographers how to take pictures of details in the Museum’s neighborhood that they might normally overlook.
This exhibition was curated by young women from the Lower Eastside Girls Club Curatorial Training Program. While learning about careers in museums, the students decided how the photographs would be displayed, titled the works, and wrote the accompanying labels. MOBIA is grateful to both the photographers and the curators for participating in the first exhibition of art created at the Museum.
MOBIA’s 2006 educational programs were made possible by the JPMorgan Chase Foundation.
