Glory in GlassStained Glass in the United States November 12, 1998–February 16, 1999 |
This contextual exhibition analyzes stained glass windows in light of the specific buildings and congregations for which they were created. In this exhibition, a section devoted to techniques of both the construction and the restoration of stained glass, allowing the collection to highlight not only the art of stained glass, but also the importance of the religious organizations that have commissioned or now care for stained glass windows. Also included are photomontages of the original sites of the windows, and panels describing the histories of the congregations. The exhibition is curated by Dr. Virginia Raguin, Professor of Art History, College of the Holy Cross, and Director, The Census of Stained Glass Windows in America (CSGA). |
